The Agricultural Workforce Health and Safety Education program  is hosting a 2-day, in-person learning workshop for Spanish speakers to prepare to take the North Carolina Private Pesticide Applicator certification exam.

This preparation course will take place May 5-6, 2025 at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Center, and will prepare you to take the private pesticide applicator exam and obtain pesticide certification.

Topics that will be covered:

• Licensing and Certification
• Pesticide Laws and Regulations
• Pesticide Management
• Pesticide Labeling
• Pesticides in the Environment
• Dangers of Pesticide Use and First Aid
• Personal Protective Equipment

THERE IS NO COST FOR THIS PROGRAM!

The in-person workshop will be held over 2 days at Wayne County Cooperative Extension Center3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534:

  • Monday, May 5, 2025: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 6, 2025: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

IN-PERSON PRIVATE PESTICIDE APPLICATOR SCHOOL (MAY 5-6, 2025)
Note: 
The event is free, but there is a charge for lunch. Please write money order or checks out to Wayne County Cooperative Extension for $30 and mail or drop off at 3114 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534 (Covers lunch meals for both days). Deadline to pay for lunch is April 29. You may bring your own lunch if you prefer.

Optional FREE Virtual Preparation Sessions:
Leading up to the course, there will also be Optional FREE Virtual Preparation Sessions:

These optional workshops are designed to help participants prepare for the class and exam. The preparation courses will consist of 10 virtual workshops for participants to attend. Items that will be covered are N.C. Pesticide Applicator Core Manual in Spanish, key chapters, concepts, and study and testing skills. The online session will be conducted through 8 virtual learning sessions that will be taught via Zoom(Classes will be held in Spanish)

The virtual workshop sessions are from
7:00 p.m. – 7-45 p.m. 
on the following dates:

  • April 2 & 4 (Wednesday/Friday)
  • April 9 & 11 (Wednesday/Friday)
  • April 23 & 25 (Wednesday/Friday)
  • April 30 & May 2 (Wednesday/Friday)

While these programs are tailored for Spanish-speaking agricultural workers applying pesticides, they are open to anyone interested in earning their private pesticide applicator certification in Spanish.
