Farmworker Safety Day: Worker receiving Base CPR/First Aid Training by Juan Allen (ECU Health).

The Extension Farmworkers Health and Safety Program received a two-year grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission to implement the “Healthy Farm, Strong Agriculture” project in Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson.

The project goals include providing farmers with a catalog of training options to assist them with access to a combination of mandatory training compliance needed for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Worker Protection Standards, training to optimize farm operations and increase worker overall health and well-being. To achieve this goal, the project team surveyed growers from January to March, 2024. For the full report and flyer, please follow the links below to the survey report with the training catalog and flyer.
