In Bertie County, a group of older adults demonstrated that lifelong learning does not stop with basic digital skills.

On April 23, 2026, Rebecca Jinnette, Digital Skills Educator with N.C. Cooperative Extension, facilitated a third deep-dive session on artificial intelligence applications with a consistent group of senior learners. The group included first cousins in their 70s and 80s who had previously connected through the Mid-East Commission Device Access Program.

Their journey began with device access. But with continued personal support, they moved into more advanced digital literacy and AI training.

Their engagement showed curiosity, persistence, and confidence. The sessions also created opportunities for social connection and cognitive engagement, turning technology learning into a shared experience.
