In Roxboro, NC, a recent NC Digital Futures Program class gave one local resident the tools to reconnect with his family—by simply learning how to use GPS navigation on his smartphone.
After receiving a new phone from his son, he enrolled in the class hoping to figure out how to use it. With guidance from the Digital Skills Educator, he successfully learned how to set up his device and use GPS to travel from Roxboro to Chapel Hill—a route he had not driven in many years.
“This will allow me to visit him now, which will make him very happy,” he shared. “It will be a great help to have my phone direct me. This has been a great class that has helped the elders in Roxboro very much!”
The NC Digital Futures Program continues to provide practical, everyday technology skills to adults across North Carolina—skills that lead to greater confidence, mobility, and connection.
