Local Food Program Team Workshop for Extension Agents April 9

The Economic Impacts Work Group of NC State Extension’s Local Food Program Team is hosting a workshop on Local Food and Downtown Redevelopment:  How Extension Programming Impacts Rural Revitalization Efforts.

This workshop will last 3 hours and is available in two locations.

  • On Tuesday April 9, 2019, from 1–4 p.m., we will be holding the workshop in Kinston at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Lenoir County office1791 NC-11 S, Kinston, NC.
  • On Tuesday, April 16, we will be holding the same workshop in Shelby from 9 a.m. to noon at the Don Gibson Theater,  318 S Washington St, Shelby, NC.

This workshop will consist of a presentation on the results of a 2018 NC State University study of NC State Extension Local Food Program impacts on rural downtown redevelopment, an NC State Extension Best Practices Panel featuring our own Greg Traywick, Tammy Kelly, and Dustin Adcock, a design activity examining what your county can do to strengthen NC State Extension’s engagement in downtown redevelopment efforts, and a walking tour with local officials in the host community’s downtown area impacted by local food programming.
